Founded in 1982 with support from the Italian government, the United World College of the Adriatic is located in the small seaside village of Duino, about 20 kilometres west of Trieste.

The college - one of 10 worldwide - is an international high school designed to foster global understanding, peace and justice. Today the school has 200 students from 70 countries.
