Established in 1987, CETA is a non-profit association dedicated to applied research, experimentation and planning in such diverse areas as land resources management, waste water management, and production and use of biomass as an energy source.

CETA's administrative headquarters is located in Gorizia, while the technical laboratory is located in AREA Science Park.
