The Callerio Foundation, a non-profit private organization launched in 1966, focuses its efforts on biological research. The foundation has paid increasing attention to research and the characterization of new drugs, based on such metallic elements as ruthenium, that may prove potentially active against tumours and their metastases.

The foundation cooperates with the University of Trieste and several research institutions around the world.
